Jonathan Mwachongo is a qualified guide. He studied tour guiding and administration certificate in 1997 in college. He has trained as a professional guide and tour driver.
He worked in hotels at Turtle Bay Beach Resort in 1999 – 2001, Lions Bluff Lodge 2011 – 2012 , and Windsor Golf hotel and country club 2016 – 2020. He is now a freelance driver guide. He is familiar to Nairobi National Park, Karura Forest, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East and West, Taita hills, Taita Sarova, Shimba Hills, Arabuko Sokoke Forest, Tana river primates, Tana delta.
He loves all birds especially the Sokoke scops owl , Spotted ground thrush, Green headed oriole, Secretary bird, Kori bustard Taita white eye and Crub plover.
The photo was taken in Meru National Park, in May 2022. This medium-sized eagle is related to snake eagles with a considerably big head as compared to the body size. It’s one of the most colourful birds of prey in Africa and Asia
Photo taken in Gakonya, Murang’a Feb 2021. The falcon like Hawk is an elusive raptor with an interesting hunting technique. Although her name would suggest they feed on Bats, they don’t do so entirely. They are therefore opportunistic feeders which spend most of their day time roosting on dense evergreen trees.
Additionally, the park has several picnic areas where visitors can enjoy a meal or snack while taking in the stunning views around them. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, a day trip to Nairobi National Park is an experience that should not be missed.
